ISM / ISPS / ISO / MLC Inspection

The ISM Code paragraph 12.1 states: “The Company should carry out internal safety audits onboard and ashore at intervals not exceeding 12 months to verify whether safety and pollution-prevention activities comply with the safety Management System (SMS)”. Section 12.4 of the code also states that “Personnel carrying out audits should be independent of the areas being audited unless this is impracticable due to the size and nature of the company”.
Seaspeed Marine is able to carry out this audit on behalf of the Management Company and provide an independent view as required by ISM Code 12.4. The fully certified Seaspeed Marine auditor will carry out the audit on behalf of the company and produce a detailed written report in a narrative format listing any relevant points including details of any ‘Findings’. (Non-Conformities/Observations).
The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) require Shipping Companies to have procedures for conducting both internal and external audits to ensure the ship is doing what is documented in the Ship Security Plan. Seaspeed Marine offers experienced Internal Auditors available to perform ISPS audits onboard ships.
Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 – major flag States have already stipulated that internal Maritime Labour Inspections shall be carried out annually. This raises the question of how to make sure that those performing audits and inspections are sufficiently qualified. Seaspeed Marine can offer you internal audits and verifications done by fully certified auditor.
It just makes sense to integrate the required MLC inspections into the existing ISM/ISPS auditing system. This is also a good measure to save time and money.
Integrated inspections can be performed by Seaspeed Marine certified auditors on scheduled yearly basis to save clients time and money.
